Our accommodations and authenticity

    In the Fronsadais, 30 min from Bordeaux, 20 min from Saint-Émilion, 15 min from Libourne, and about 1h15 from the ocean.

  • No, La CLOCHETTE is located in a dependency of the Château de Carney. In France, all wine estates are allowed to use the name “château”. Our accommodation occupies a former 17th-century stone manor house with exposed stonework, carefully renovated in a contemporary spirit while preserving its authentic historic character.

  • At La CLOCHETTE du Château, in Lugon et l’Île du Carney, we offer:

    • GÎTE, 4 people, 70 m²

    • COTTAGE, 6 people, 100 m²

    All carefully renovated, blending heritage and contemporary design.

    At La CLOCHETTE Océan, Lacanau, you’ll also find a house

    • OCEAN HOUSE (6-8 people, 120 m²)

  • We place great importance on sustainability: all our accommodations have solar energy, optimized energy management, and responsible water management. An ecological approach integrated into modern comfort.

    In addition, our garden is designed on permaculture principles, and we try to renature the fields around the house.

Arrival and transport

  • A car is recommended for exploring Bordeaux, the Atlantic Ocean, and the vineyards freely.

    Local shops (bakery, butcher) are within walking distance, and you can reach Libourne or Saint-André-de-Cubzac by bike.

    It is possible to reach La Clochette by public transport (bus from Libourne or Saint-André-de-Cubzac to Lugon et l’Île du Carney), but with luggage this remains impractical, as there is still about a 1 km walk to La Clochette.

  • Yes, free enclosed parking directly on the property, with the option of electric vehicle charging (solar power).

  • Guest departure is scheduled for 10am, and we place great importance on cleanliness and thorough preparation of the property. Since the cottage (110 m²) and the gîte (70 m²) both need to be fully cleaned, beds remade, and everything carefully prepared, an early arrival is generally not possible. If we happen to finish earlier, we’ll be happy to let you know — and of course you’re welcome to arrive before the usual time.

  • The train stations of Libourne (15 min) and Saint-André-de-Cubzac (10 min) offer direct connections to Bordeaux.

  • CHECK-IN is at 4pm.
    Earlier arrival is generally not possible.

    We take the time to properly prepare your accommodation after the previous guests’ departure (10am): thorough cleaning, beds remade, everything carefully checked. If we finish earlier, we’re happy to call you so you can settle in sooner!

Activities and discoveries

  • The region is ideal for cycling. 5 minutes away is Tourisme Fronsadais, with excellent advice, offers, and organized routes. Bikes can be rented in Libourne, for example here. For several bikes, delivery to La Clochette is possible.

  • Yes, numerous trails run through vineyards, forests, and along the Dordogne river. You’ll find great ideas here.

  • Lac des Dagueys in Libourne (15 min) for swimming and water sports.

    The Atlantic Ocean is 1h away: Lacanau Océan, Cap Ferret, Dune du Pilat.

    And of course, our pool :-)

  • The Atlantic Ocean is about 1h away. Among the most popular spots are Lacanau Océan (Parking Nord – €3.50/day), Cap Ferret (nicknamed the “Saint-Tropez of the Atlantic”), or the Dune du Pilat near Arcachon.

  • Perfectly! 30 minutes by car or train — ideal for a half-day trip. We’re happy to share our tips.

  • Tennis and padel, water sports at the lake, horseback riding, and golf. Basic but free tennis in Lugon, or at the Tennis & Padel Municipal de Libourne (Facebook link).

  • Hot summers (24–28°C), mild winters (3–15°C).

    Even during heatwaves (usually once or twice a year, for a week in July or August), La CLOCHETTE stays comfortable: the stone house keeps its coolness well. The large barn in the garden is perfect for relaxing in the shade, playing table tennis, or dining. And of course, the saltwater pool is the ideal place to cool off.

Comfort and well-being

  • The saltwater pool (gentle on the skin) is naturally heated by the sun and reaches 24–28°C in summer. In the shoulder seasons, it’s around 18–20°C.

  • The stone house stays cool, and the garden offers plenty of shaded spots. Air conditioning is available (rarely needed) in the upstairs cottage. And of course, the pool brings real relief from the heat.

  • Perfectly! Large garden with trampoline, table tennis, darts, badminton, a football pitch in the village, and a pool secured with an alarm.

  • We provide a cot, high chair, and baby bathtub on request. The pool is equipped with an alarm.

  • The sauna needs to be heated for 45 minutes before your session. Each session costs €10.

Wine and permaculture

  • Yes, our natural wine can be tasted and purchased on site. A wine fridge also offers other vintages from friendly estates in the region.

  • We grow lavender, herbs, vegetables, and seasonal flowers – always fresh for our guests. You’re welcome to pick herbs for tea or cooking. Eggs from our hens are available (if the hens are in a good mood). And every guest receives a bouquet of garden flowers on arrival.

  • Aromatic herbs for tea or cooking, and seasonal vegetables from the kitchen garden.

Food and local shops

  • Supermarkets, bakeries, and local markets are just minutes away. We send a detailed PDF with addresses and tips a week before your arrival.

  • Friendly bistros, wine estates with tastings, gourmet restaurants — we test them regularly for you 😉 You’ll receive our updated PDF a week before your arrival.

Practical info & booking

  • Directly through our website, Airbnb, or Booking.com. Direct bookings often come with the best rates.

    • We speak German, French, and English.

  • YES, dogs are welcome at La CLOCHETTE, but they’re not alone.

    If they get along with Moca (Irish greyhound), Marley (cat), and our 21 hens, we’re happy to welcome them too.

    We just ask that you respect a few simple rules

    – No dogs on the beds, please

    – On sofas only with a dog blanket
